David Brash Named Chief Executive Officer of Raleigh General Hospital
May 22, 2025

Beckley, W.Va. (May 22, 2025) — Raleigh General Hospital today announced that David Brash has been named chief executive officer (CEO), effective July 7.
Brash brings nearly 37 years of healthcare leadership experience, including roles within regional, system and academic-affiliated hospitals. He most recently served as CEO of Logan Regional Medical Center in southern West Virginia, where he helped advance patient safety, expand specialty services and guide the hospital to a Leapfrog A grade and national recognition from Newsweek as one of America’s Best-in-State Hospitals. He has also held senior executive roles at Ballad Health, Wellmont Health System and Appalachian Regional Healthcare.
For Brash, the opportunity to lead Raleigh General is both professional and personal. He was born at the hospital and raised nearby in Oak Hill, giving him a lifelong connection to the community he will now serve. That familiarity, paired with his collaborative leadership style and operational expertise, makes him uniquely positioned to support the hospital’s continued momentum and long-term vision.
“David brings both experience and perspective to this role,” said William Haugh, division president of Lifepoint Health. “His steady leadership, proven ability to build strong clinical teams and personal connection to the area make him a natural fit for Raleigh General.”
A 300-bed facility and one of the region’s largest employers, Raleigh General serves nearly 13,000 inpatients and more than 50,000 emergency visits each year. The hospital offers advanced surgical services, trauma care and growing specialty programs, and plays a key role in training future healthcare professionals through nursing and allied health education. With more than 1,100 team members, the hospital is a cornerstone of care and economic strength in southern West Virginia.
“This hospital has always meant something to me and my family,” said Brash. “It has long been a trusted presence in this community, and I’m honored to now be part of its future. I look forward to working with our physicians, staff and community partners to build on the great work already happening and continue advancing our mission of making communities healthier.”
Brash will begin transitioning into the role in the coming weeks.
