Raleigh General Hospital Expands ICU Services with Dedicated Intensivist Coverage

Raleigh General Hospital is expanding its critical care services with the launch of a new Intensivist Program, providing around-the-clock critical care expertise for patients receiving treatment in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Beginning Sept. 1, the program will be led by Dr. Hassan Suleiman, Program Director, and supported by Dr. Richard McNeilly. Both physicians are board-certified and affiliated with Apogee Physicians, a hospital-based physician service.

The addition of dedicated intensivists enhances Raleigh General Hospital's ability to provide specialized, evidence-based care for patients requiring advanced monitoring and treatment during hospitalization. While the hospital has long provided high-quality critical care through its experienced physicians, nurses, and clinical teams, the new Intensivist Program adds an additional layer of expertise within the ICU. With physicians trained specifically in critical care medicine available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the hospital can provide continuous oversight, timely interventions, and support for complex medical decision-making.

Intensivists are physicians specially trained in the management of patients with serious and complex medical conditions requiring intensive monitoring and treatment. They work closely with hospitalists, specialists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team to coordinate care and support positive patient outcomes.
