Whether you require inpatient or outpatient surgical services, Raleigh General Hospial is able to provide high quality care from our experienced and skilled staff.
Surgical Services include the Out-patient Department, the Endoscopy Department, the Operating Room and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Recovery Room). These departments are responsible for the delivery of patient care.

Patients are admitted through this department for minor surgery such as hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, arthroscopic surgery, plastic surgery of all types, tonsillectomy, and cataract surgery. The Out-Patient Department also manages an infusion center where a variety of IV infusion are given: Blood products, antibiotics and immunosuppressant's are a few examples.

A variety of disorders are treated here: ulcers, hiatal hernia, reflux syndrome and other upper GI diseases. We also treat rectal bleeding, hemorrhoids, colon polyps, diverticulitis and any lower intestinal disease. Additionally, care is provided to patients with obstructive biliary or pancreatic disease, lung disorders and/or foreign bodies.
On-Call personnel available 24/7
Cases are scheduled during the day.
Call teams cover the department after 11:00pm.
The department does all surgeries other than open heart, neurosurgery, and transplant. A Registered Nurse is always assigned as the Circulating Nurse. The Raleigh Medical Complex houses a new out-patient surgery center.
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
Care is provided to all age groups including infants, children, adolescents, young adults, middle aged adults and geriatrics. The unit is responsible for the immediate care of all patients following surgery. The unit is staffed by Registered Nurses.
Bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) -- Gastric sleeve and other weight-loss surgeries make changes to your digestive system to help you lose weight by limiting how much you can eat or by reducing the absorption of nutrients, or both. Gastric sleeve and other weight-loss surgeries are done when diet and exercise haven't worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight.
