RGH Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer

Beckley, West Virginia – Raleigh General Hospital is pleased to welcome Ronald L. Rezjer, MD to our Administrative Team as the hospital's new Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Rejzer earned his Doctorate degree at the Hahnemann Medical University in Philadelphia, graduating with honors and was a member of the AOA medical honor society. He completed his internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia/Riverside Hospital Healthcare System. Following residency, Dr. Rejzer practiced Emergency Medicine for almost 20 years in Newport News, Va.

Prior to Dr. Rejzer joining LifePoint and RGH, he served as the Regional Medical Director for a large Hospitalist management company in the mid Atlantic region. Prior to this position, Dr. Rejzer held the position as Chief Medical Officer for several Bon Secours Healthcare facilities in Tidewater Virginia. His primary responsibilities in this administrative role included Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance, Credentialing and Privileging, Peer Review, JCAHO Accreditation, Medical Staff Affairs, and Strategic Planning.

Throughout his professional career, he played an active role in several professional organizations including serving as President of the Newport News Medical Society and President of the Virginia Peninsula Emergency Physicians, Inc., a position he held for nearly 20 yrs. He has participated in numerous physician leadership seminars and has been instrumental in developing cohesive working relationships between ER physicians and Hospitalist programs.

Dr. Rejzer is currently a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a past Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Rejzer is an active member of the Society of Hospital Medicine; the American College of Physician Executives; and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

In his off time, Dr. Rejzer enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. Additionally, he enjoys traveling and is a instrument rated private pilot.
