Karen Bowling, FACHE
President / Chief Executive OfficerKaren Bowling is a veteran of the healthcare field. A native of Wyoming County, she graduated from Bluefield State College in 1977 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She then attended West Virginia University where she obtained her BS degree in Nursing. She received her Masters Degree in Primary Health Care in 1990. Bowling also attended a 1-year Executive Fellowship program in Healthcare Administration in 1993. She was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1996.
Bowling is active in the community and has been involved with a variety of charity and educational agencies including The United Way of Southern West Virginia, the Advisory committee for Mountain State University, Raleigh County Communitiy Action Association, WV State March of Dimes Board and The American Heart Association. She is a Board member of the WV Hospital Association and legislative committee. She is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and was selected to The State Journal's Who's Who in Business in 2005. Bowling currently resides in Beckley. She has two children.
Jim Bills
Chief Operating OfficerJim Bills joined the Senior Administrative Team at Raleigh General Hospital as the Chief Operating Officer in December, 2008. Jim began his career with Healthcare Corporation of America (HCA) in Internal Audit. He moved to a controller position at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. After three years, he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer for Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston and served there for the last five years. In addition to being the CFO, Jim was in charge of several other ancillary departments that included dietary, housekeeping and rehab services. Jim and his wife Lara have two children, daughter Sara Margaret, nine and son Calloway, 5. Jim enjoys running, coaching his children's soccer teams, and being involved in the community and church.
Tom Thompson
Chief Financial OfficerTom Thompson is the Chief Financial Officer at Raleigh General Hospital. Tom has 23 years of healthcare experience, which included stints as Chief Financial Officer of both Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, West Virginia, and St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia. His wife, Rose, is a fifth-generation West Virginia native from Summersville, and is a graduate of Marshall University. They have two adult daughters.
Carol Miller
Vice President / Chief Nursing OfficerCarol Miller is a 34 year veteran of the healthcare field. She received her RN degree from the C&O Hospital School of Nursing in Clifton Forge, VA. She then obtained her BS degree in Management of Human Resources from Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia, and then received her MBA from Averett College located in Danville, Virginia.
Miller is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and also belongs to both the West Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives and it's national chapter, the American Organization of Nurse Executives. She is a member of the Advisory Committee for Academy of Careers and Technology's School of Practical Nursing in Beckley, West Virginia, the Advisory Committee for Glenville State College's Practical Nursing Program in Summersville, WV and is a member of the Rotary Club in Beckley. Miller and her husband Freddie have two children. Her hobbies are camping, reading and cross stitch.
